Vertex VPN
How to connect, and what to do if it does not work.
1. Connect to the VPN
You need a personal VPN file from us (it ends with .conf) or a QR code. It is
meant for one person and one device: do not pass it on. Ask us if you do not have it yet.
- Install WireGuard from wireguard.com/install (“Download Windows Installer”) and run it.
- Open WireGuard. Click Add Tunnel (the arrow next to it) → Import tunnel(s) from file…
and choose your
.conffile. - Select the new tunnel and click Activate. The status changes to Active.
- Install WireGuard from the Mac App Store.
- Open it (the icon appears at the top of the screen). Choose Import tunnel(s) from file…
and select your
.conffile. Click Allow when macOS asks to add a VPN configuration. - Click Activate. The status changes to Active.
- Install WireGuard from the App Store.
- Open it and tap Add a tunnel → Create from QR code (scan the code we gave you),
or Create from file or archive for a
.conffile. Tap Allow when iOS asks to add a VPN. - Turn the switch next to the tunnel on.
- Install WireGuard from Google Play.
- Open it and tap + → Scan from QR code (the code we gave you), or
Import from file or archive for a
.conffile. Tap OK when Android asks to add a VPN. - Turn the switch next to the tunnel on.
- Install WireGuard, for example
sudo apt install wireguard(Debian, Ubuntu) orsudo dnf install wireguard-tools(Fedora). - Put your file in
/etc/wireguard/vertex.confand start it:
To stop it:sudo wg-quick up vertexsudo wg-quick down vertex.
Check that it works
With the VPN on, open os.vertexsms.com. You should see the login page. Only traffic to our services goes through the VPN; the rest of your internet works as before.
2. It does not work? Run the check
This small program looks at your network and tests the connection to our services. It saves the result in one file. Send that file to us and we will find the cause. You do not need to understand or type anything.
-
Download the program for your computer.
Other systems
- Run it. Make sure the VPN is on (if you can, try to open the page that fails first, then run the program). The program asks you to press Enter, works for about a minute and then shows a file.
-
Send us the file it created (
vpn-check-report-….zip, on your Desktop) to the person who gave you the VPN.
What does the program do?
It only reads and tests. It does not change settings, install anything, need administrator rights or open your files.
It collects: your network addresses and settings (IP addresses, routes, DNS servers, proxy), the result of connecting to our services over IPv4 and IPv6, the output of standard network tools (such as ping and traceroute), the state of the VPN adapter, and your operating system and time zone.
It does not collect: passwords, your VPN keys or the contents of your VPN file, documents, browsing history, or the name of your computer and your user name (these are removed).
It is a single file and does not send anything by itself: you decide whether to send the report.
